St. Athanasios Cemetery Garden at Memorial
Park
In the Spring of 2002, after 65 years of
a Greek Orthodox presence in the Aurora area, the St. Athanasios
Cemetery section was established at Lincoln Memorial Park.
Within the Greek Orthodox faith, burial is the only option
for the deceased, and the St. Athanasios section meets the
burial needs of our community. In orthodox countries the local
cemetery is a focal point of community and, like most churches
in the Chicago area, St. Athanasios has taken another step
forward towards leaving its mark in the community. As we develop
our section with an entry marker and ultimately a chapel,
it will eventually grow and mature into a beautiful place
to honor and memorialize all of our loved ones who have passed
away.
